What is Speech Language Pathology?

Pediatric speech therapy helps children learn to communicate, understand others, and safely eat and drink. These skills are important for learning, building relationships, and expressing needs and feelings. When a child needs extra support, a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) works with them in a fun, child-centered way.

Speech therapy includes several areas that support your child’s growth:

Speech Sounds help children say sounds clearly so others can understand them.
Understanding Language helps children follow directions, answer questions, and make sense of what they hear.
Using Language helps children express their thoughts, needs, and ideas with words and sentences.
Social Skills help children interact with others, take turns, and build friendships.
Feeding & Swallowing helps children eat safely, try new foods, and feel comfortable during mealtimes.

Every child is different, so therapy is personalized to their needs. Sessions are play-based and engaging to make learning feel natural and enjoyable.

The goal is to help your child communicate confidently, connect with others, and succeed at home, school, and in everyday life—with families supported every step of the way.
